COMPLETION DATE November 2004 - Master Plan Report
ETI Corporation is currently working with the City of Memphis Division of Park Services on the development of the Master Plan for the Wolf River Greenway and trail systems. The proposed corridor encompasses approximately 3,500 acres adjacent to a 22-mile segment of the Wolf River as it flows westward through Shelby County and Memphis to its confluence with the Mississippi River, just north of Mud Island, and the Mississippi Greenway Park in Downtown Memphis. The Master Plan, utilizing GIS format, documents and maps ownership of existing parcels along the corridor, assesses potential environmentally significant sites, and recommends a location for the multiuse greenway trail and connector trails to the adjacent neighborhoods. The proposed Wolf River Greenway and trail system will preserve a contiguous forested corridor along the Wolf River, protecting the floodway and floodplain from further urban encroachment, and provide opportunities for storm water management, wetlands preservation, environmental education, and open space preservation. The Master Plan report will include a budget for property acquisition, trail construction, and proposed maintenance and operation costs.
